There is no such thing as unsupervised time on an activity or visit.
However, time with their peers, away from direct adult supervision, is an important feature, particularly of residential visits, and brings many additional learning opportunities for young people. This is also the time when many accidents tend to happen so it needs to be appropriately managed.
